Exploring Time and Space

accompaniment

We are riding downhill now,
like kids on a sled in the snow,
hanging on,
screaming,
helpless.
gravity is in control.
we are racing through the physical world,
all blurry, white, with blue sky and green trees.
we may alter the direction slightly,
but our path was determined at the start.
there are no brakes,
we will be riding to the end.
we pushed over the hilltop,
we ran and jumped on,
we decided to go,
we passed through the doubt,
so much safer to say no,
but now it is certain,
the power all in our hands.
Our energy is focused,
we are invisible.
no existence,
breathing is communication enough.
in the heat of things,
we learn,
what to do or not do.
breathe carefully,
move sparingly,
aware everywhere,
always in harmony,
complimentary,
an accompaniment.
we drown in emotions,
memories, dreams, madness,
feelings bubbling, churning, struggling, both to come out,
and to stay in,
the madness must be pushed away,
rationality is the enemy.
it takes time,
to work through all this,
to concentrate,
to keep the doubt away,
to be a child again, momentarily focused
completely on one thing,
any worry of consequence pushed aside,
rapid heartbeats now,
the air is intoxicating,
nothing else exists,
at moments,
eyes lock,
pulling us closer.
we came here together,
to this moment,
simultaneously safe,
and out of control.
full speed over that final mogul,
the whole craft launches into the air,
so much screaming and excitement,
once that point is reached,
we know,
from the air to the ground will happen
as fast as the launch.
soon only silence,
limbs all akimbo,
the mind is working,
hands sensing,
lungs breathing,
skin feeling,
hearts pounding,
eyes seeing,
looking up,
and far away.
again the world changes,
power changes hands,
peacefully but not easily.
all those thoughts,
pushed aside in the madness,
come rushing back,
unwanted.
we lay still,
exhausted,
sometimes crying,
sometimes sighing,
almost sleeping,
until we are ready,
to conquer the world again.
