a strategic mistake
Beautiful babies, years of wonder and fun, love, family, parenting, schools, passion, emotion, soccer, encouragement, after-school, boyfriends, dance, time, laughing, crying, girlfriends, summer camps, eating, learning, trying, teaching, coaching, family trips, achieving, mentoring, interning, driving, working, loving, loving, loving.
Lots of love.
And they grow. Every day, a day older. Religiously. Every month a month older.
And now I realize
they will meet together as adults,
without me,
three strong and successful women,
perhaps with their mothers as well,
two powerful women,
and plan my demise.
they will take me off the streets,
put an end to anything fun,
no longer free to make my own decisions,
they will be much stronger than I.
They will succeed and,
like the water buffalo,
hoping to break free of attacking lions,
I, of course, will succumb.
